Head of DFR expresses KRG's Concern over the Iranian accusations

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (dfr.gov.krd) - The Head of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations, Minister Falah Mustafa, received on Sunday, January 7th,  2018, the Deputy Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil, Mr. Syamak Borhani, and officially expressed the concern of the Kurdistan Regional Government regarding accusations by the Secretary of the Iranian Expediency Discernment Council, Mr. Mohsen Rezaee, who claimed that the recent protests in Iranian cities were planned and managed by Erbil.


During the meeting, Minister Mustafa emphasized that the statements of the Secretary of the Iranian Expediency Discernment Council are contradictory to international law and bilateral relations and are fabrication and baseless. He underlined that it is not the first time such accusations are made by senior Iranian officials against the KRG, adding that if there is evidence of such accusations then they should be revealed.

Minister Mustafa reiterated that the KRG views such statements as a negative stance and against the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Yet, elaborating, that the Kurdistan Region looks forward to friendly relations with all countries in the region and with the international community.

Deputy Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Syamak Borhani, said that he takes KRG’s concern into consideration and will pass the message to Tehran.

Mr. Borhani emphasized that both Erbil and Tehran agree on the continuation and development of bilateral relations and there are mutual understanding on common issues.

Worth mentioning that Mr. Abulla Akrayee head of the Iran Desk at the KRG Department of Foreign Relations was present at the meeting.

A Dutch Delegation Visit DFR
