Prime Minister Barzani and Norwegian Ambassador discuss political process in Iraq

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq ( - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received Ms. Tone Allers, Norwegian Ambassador to Jordan and Iraq and her accompanying delegation.

Ambassador Allers pointed out that the goal of her visit is to learn about the position of the Kurdistan Region on the political process in Iraq and the situation in the Kurdistan Region.

Prime Minister Barzani briefed the delegation about the latest developments and the holding of the first session of the Iraqi parliament.

The two sides stressed the formation of a government in Iraq that would benefit all the Iraqi communities, enable strengthening security and stability, provide services, and respect the constitutional rights of the people of Kurdistan.

Ambassador Allers commended the role of the Kurdistan Region in accommodating and offering assistance to a large number of internally displaced people and refugees, stressing her country’s willingness to continue providing assistance to displaced people, refugees and religious communities in the Kurdistan Region.

The situation in the region in general and the upcoming elections in the Kurdistan Region, scheduled for September 30th, were also discussed in the meeting.
