Head of DFR participates at the Vienna Diplomatic Academy 2018 discussion on “Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the Middle East”

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (dfr.gov.krd) – During his working visit to Austria on 8 November 2018, Minister Falah Mustafa the Head of the Department of Foreign Relations (DFR) of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) participated, as a keynote speaker, in the discussion panel of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. This year’s discussion highlighted the political developments and issues related to the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the Middle East.

Minister Mustafa alongside with the Professor Thomas Row, Head of History Faculty at the Diplomatic Academy and Dr. Gudrun Harrer, former Special Envoy of the European Union to Iraq clarified KRG visions on the recent developments of the Region and beyond and government formations of Erbil and Baghdad.

in the margins of the discussions, which were also attended by Ghanim Fadhil Hasan KAABI, first Secretary of the Iraqi Embassy and Dr Mustafa Ramazan, the KRG Representative to Austria, with a number of students, academics and graduates of the Vienna Diplomacy Academy, Minister Mustafa presented a historical overview of the Kurdistan Region and expressed the willingness of the KR in addressing outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad under the constitutional framework and said “We need to look forward to the future and want to solve the disputes between Erbil and Bagdad by participating all parties in the political process in Bagdad with our partners there”.

 

He emphasized that the next KRG cabinet will look forward to work on the reform agenda, to improve services for its citizens and to safeguard the diversity and peaceful coexistence of all ethnic and religious groups that make up the fabric of the Kurdistan Region, also to remain KR an efficient and solidity value community, worldwide relevant. He also referred to the complexities of the worldwide humanitarian crises, at the same time ways and solutions in nurturing existing infrastructure and institutions to prevent further migration to the Western countries.

On relations with the neighbor countries, he touched on ties with the Iraq and Iran, and also the Iraq and Turkey, saying that it’s natural for them to have good relations and hopes to deepen cooperation.

To conclude, Minister Mustafa answered questions on the internal Kurdistan politics and the vacancy of the KRI presidency as well as the Iraqi government formation and remaining vacancies.




Head of DFR and Indian Consul General discuss promoting further cooperation

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (dfr.gov.krd) – Falah Mustafa, the Head of Department of Foreign Relations (DFR) of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) received the Consul General of the Republic of India, Chandramouli Kumar and confirmed the determination of the KRG to develop a comprehensive partnership and mutual interest with the Republic of India. Romanian Consular Office hosts National Day and Great Union Day celebration of the Republic of Romania in Erbil

Poland’s Minister for Humanitarian Affairs visits Kurdistan Region and met with the KRG Officials
