Minister Falah Mustafa meets Ile-de-France Region Vice-President Jérôme Chartier

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq ( – Minister Falah Mustafa on 31 March met with Mr. Jérôme Chartier, Vice-President of the Île-de-France Regional Council.

Minister Mustafa, Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Department of Foreign Relations (DFR), expressed his gratitude to the people and government of France for their contribution in the war against ISIS, their support to the Peshmerga Forces and assistance to internally displaced persons. He was pleased that the Kurdistan Region and France have increased cooperation in many fields.

Minister Mustafa briefed the French delegation on current developments in Kurdistan, Erbil-Baghdad relations, efforts to form the next KRG cabinet, and the ongoing discussions between the political parties in this regard. He added that the KRG’s priority is to provide vital assistance for refugees and IDPs, and to promote the conditions throughout Iraq that will bring stability and security.

Mr. Chartier stated that the purpose behind his visit is to look at recent developments and to further boost the cooperative partnership between the two countries in areas of common concern.

He commended the heroic role of the Peshmerga Forces in the war against ISIS and honored their considerable sacrifices.  

Île-de-France is in North-Central France, contains the capital city Paris and is the country’s most populous region.

Ms. Siham Mamand, the Assistant Head of the DFR, and Mr Dominique Mas, French Consul-General to Erbil, also participated in the meeting.
