Minister Falah Mustafa and Dutch delegation focused on institutions, agriculture and food processing in Kurdistan

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (dfr.gov.krd) – Minister Falah Mustafa on Thursday, April 18 met a delegation from the Kingdom of Netherlands with the aim of furthering cooperation and exchanging views on the current developments and opportunities in Kurdistan.

The delegation was composed of Mr. Hashi Abdullahi, Policy Coordinator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Inclusive Green Growth, Ms. Melanne Rouw, Program Advisor, Sustainable Development Goals, at the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, accompanied by Mr. Willem Nicolaas Cosijn, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kurdistan.

Minister Mustafa, Head of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Department of Foreign Relations (DFR),  briefed the Dutch delegation on Kurdistan's recent political developments and efforts to form the next KRG cabinet. He expressed the KRG's willingness to enhance bilateral ties with the Netherlands in many areas, including agriculture, food security and the environment.

The Dutch delegation said that they are visiting the Kurdistan Region to look more closely at the agriculture sector and finding practical ways to cooperate and reiterated their country’s desire to work closely with KRG to focus on the institutions, agriculture and food processing sector in the Region.

The main perpetrator responsible for the Erbil restaurant shooting on July 17 has now been arrested by the Counter-Terrorism Unit of Kurdistan Region, following a large-scale search operation. He has been named as Mazlum Dag.
