Minister Falah Mustafa welcomes South Korea high-level delegation

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq ( – Minister Falah Mustafa on 3 July met with Mr. Han Byung-do, Special Advisor to the President of Korea for Foreign Affairs and his delegation on Wednesday.

Minister Mustafa, Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Department of Foreign Relations (DFR), on behalf of the KRG warmly welcomed the delegation and said that their visit to Kurdistan is a good step in enhancing ties.

Minister Mustafa highlighted that South Korea is the true partner of the people and government of Kurdistan. The stationing of the Zaytun Division in Kurdistan Region under the motto “we are friends”, economic and cultural relations, many capacity-building visits and exchanges were all testimony to the great partnership.

Korean companies are in the energy and electricity sectors in Kurdistan, and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has worked on many programmes.

Minister Mustafa asked that more Korean companies work and invest in Kurdistan for their mutual benefit and to learn from Korea’s economic success.

The President’s Special Advisor, Byung-do, on behalf of the President and Parliament of Korea reaffirmed strengthening relations with Kurdistan Region and working together in more areas.

Ms. Siham Mamand, Assistant Head of DFR and Mr. Choi Kwang-jin, Korean Consul General in Erbil also participated at the meeting.
