Minister Safeen Dizayee meets with Korean Ambassador to Iraq

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (dfr.gov.krd) – Minister Safeen Dizayee, Head of KRG Department of Foreign Relations received on 1st October South Korean Ambassador Jang Kyung-wook to Iraq, accompanied by Consul General CHOI-Kwang Jin in Erbil.

At the meeting, Minister Dizayee and Korean Ambassador Wook discussed trade and investment opportunities and affirmed their commitment to strengthening the Kurdistan Region and Korea bilateral cooperation and ties on the economy, investment, and infrastructure areas.

Minister Dizayee provided a brief on the history of partnership between both countries and praised the role of Korea and Zaytun division for their efforts in sharing expertise and experiences with the Region and asked for further enhancing them at all levels. Minister Dizayee also updated Korea’s delegation on current developments in Kurdistan Region and Erbil and Baghdad continued dialogue.

In his part, Korean Ambassador was optimistic for the level of ties exists between both sides, said that his country remains committed with its intention to enhance bilateral relations with the Kurdistan Region.

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (dfr.gov.krd) – The Department of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Ministry of Interior and its Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC) held a joint meeting with foreign diplomats and donor countries in Kurdistan Region, on 15 October, on the events in northeastern Syria and its impact on the humanitarian and security situation in the Region.

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – The Kurdistan Regional Government is deeply concerned by the United States’ decision to withdraw from the safe zone in northeastern Syria and by reports of a potential unilateral military operation by Turkey. The government calls on Turkey, as a member of the Global Coalition, to avoid any initiative that would undermine the progress made against ISIS, including jeopardising the secure detention of terrorist fighters.

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (dfr.gov.krd) – Minister Safeen Dizayee, Head of Kurdistan’s Department of Foreign Relations on 30 September made a speech at the celebration in Erbil for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. He attended the Chinese Consulate General’s reception together with Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, and Mr. Ni-Ruchi, the Chinese Consul General in Erbil.
