Japan’s Consular Office hosts a reception to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan in Erbil

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (dfr.gov.krd) – The Consular Office of Japan to the Kurdistan Region hosted a reception in Erbil on the 18th of December 2018 to celebrate the 85th birthday of 125th Emperor of Japan. The reception was attended by a number of senior Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) officials, Diplomatic corps, members of Parliament and the Ambassador of Japan to Iraq, Naofumi Hashimoto.

 

The Head of the Consular Office of Japan to the Kurdistan Region, Katsumi Moriyasu delivered the opening speech in the Kurdish language, welcomed guests and said: “2018 was a year of improving relations between Japan and the Kurdistan Region, and we look forward to further strengthening our ties in years coming”.

Japanese Consul Moriyasu highlighted on Japanese assistance extended in all parts of the Region and referred to Japan’s plans and programs for the future. He also stressed on his country’s continued support to solve outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad within the framework of the Iraqi constitution.

 

The Head of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations (DFR), Minister Falah Mustafa delivered a speech and thanked the Ambassador of Japan to Iraq, and the Head of the Consular Office to the Kurdistan for hosting the 85th birthday celebration for His Majesty the Emperor of Japan.

Minister Mustafa expressed his appreciation to Japan for their cooperation and commitment to Kurdistan throughout the years. He also praised the active role of the Consular Office of Japan and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the Region in promoting capacity building for crisis management and supporting developing countries through regional initiatives.

 

The Head of DFR thanked the people and government of Japan for providing humanitarian assistance to IDPs and refugees.   He praised Japan on its innovations and technological advancements in the fields of recycling, transport, and android robots,  and highlighted that the Kurdistan Region can benefit from Japan’s progress.

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (dfr.gov.krd) – The Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Kurdistan Region, Mr Jack Lopresti MP held a parliamentary briefing for the Kurdistan High Representative to the United Kingdom, Karwan Jamal Tahir, and Iraqi Deputy Ambassador to the UK, Nazar Mirjan with the Minister of State for International Development and Minister of State for the Middle East at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the Rt Hon Alistair Burt MP to address the members of UK Parliament on a broad range of matters, including the political, security and economic developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (dfr.gov.krd) – British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) at the heart of London’s West End became home to the launching of the Kurdistan Memory Programme (KMP) and screening of the UK premiere documentary film ‘One Yazidi Family vs. ISIS’, directed and produced by Gwynne Roberts following its debut screening at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
