Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Receives US Military Delegation

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (dfr.gov.krd) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received a US military delegation headed by Brigadier General Gregory Kreuder.

Minister of Peshmerga Shorish Ismael and US Consul-General Steven Fagin were also present at the meeting where the officials discussed the extensive military cooperation between the US and Kurdistan Region.

Prime Minister Barzani acknowledged the role of the US and global coalition in the fight against the so-called Islamic State and emphasised the necessity of ongoing support.

Both sides recognized that improved relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and federal government of Iraq have facilitated constructive dialogue and a path to a stable relationship that recognises the rights of the Kurdistan Region under the constitution.

They agreed that it is of shared interest to strengthen ties between Erbil and Baghdad and improve coordination between the Peshmerga and Iraqi Armed Forces.

Prime Minister Barzani and the US delegation recognized that mutual respect and coordination between Erbil and Baghdad will help stabilize the country and preserve the security of its people.

Department of Foreign Relations extends deepest condolences on the passing of Egypt’s Consul in the Kurdistan Region
