Minister Dizayee hosted a virtual meeting with the diplomats, foreign missions and the UN organizations based in Kurdistan

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (http://DFR.GOV.KRD) – Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Department of Foreign Relations (DFR) Minister Safeen Muhsin Dizayee on Sunday 7th June hosted a productive virtual meeting through a video conference with the diplomats, foreign missions in the neighboring country and the UN organizations based in the Kurdistan Region.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Dizayee presented an overview on the recent political, security, economic, humanitarian, and health developments in Kurdistan and Iraq, and the latest updates on the Coronavirus (COVID19) outbreak, as well as Erbil and Baghdad relations.

Minister Dizayee also discussed KRG’s role in forming the new Iraqi cabinet, its strategy and policies to resolve outstanding issues between Erbil-Baghdad, the importance of KRG’s participation and support in the Iraq-USA Strategic Agreement.

Minister Dizayee thanked the diplomatic missions for their understanding and steadfast support to the KRG in combating COVID-19 and in perceiving the KRG’s preventive measures to contain the pandemic.

From their part, 28 diplomatic missions including Ambassadors, Consul Generals and Heads of Missions in the region took part in the meeting and commended the role of the KRG in taking aggressive measures against the further spread of the virus in the Kurdistan Region and thanked the Head of DFR for the valuable exchange of views on the overall situations in the country in these challenging times.

Department of Foreign Relations extends deepest condolences on the passing of Egypt’s Consul in the Kurdistan Region
